After a week on cardiothoracics. Everyday, spent hours on feet in the operation theatre. Saw people got butchered on the table. Reeked of blood n iodine. Alhamdulillah.. It has now end.
Trust me, you really have to have no feelings, heart or whatsoever to become a surgeon. Or else, you won't have what it takes to cut people open, shoving hands and God-knows-what-else inside them. I was becoming numb myself, couldn't even bring myself to think that what lies on the table is somebody's father or gran or sister or loved one, or even a person. Heh.
Cabaran sungguh doing surgery in Ramadhan. Got back in the evening with a body like jelly. Couldnt think and couldnt care less. Thinking how on earth did Rasulullah n the sahabiyah went on wars during the fasting month. Keep telling myself this is really nothing in comparison.
A week back in Dublin, a week away from the loved ones back home, a week facing the reality, a week of just a taste of what's life in the future.
The bleakness of life without my sayangs anywhere near me, eating me inside out. But I'll be strong, for it is a better future we're counting on, bi iznillah.
[Counting down, cherishing the last few days of Ramadhan, wondering if there will be another Ramadhan for me..]
