sadness is so infectious that i don't think i wanna be a psychiatrist.

bismillahirrahmanirrahim..

i saw 2 patients today. both with very sad story.

first patient, was a mother of 4. her son committed suicide last year. and she is very very very disturbed and sad. she was admitted to the hospital after taking an overdose of the antidepressants prescribed. i listened to her. her story. i am not a mother, but i got the feeling, the emptiness, the hole created in a mother's chest after losing a son she raised and nurtured for the past 19 years. that devastating feelings, is really a killer.

second patient, a 92-year-old lovely little lady. she self-referred to the psych hospital claiming that she can no longer cope to live under the same house with her husband who now has Alzheimer's disease. how sad that is! she said that the husband changed so much. what do you expect from Alzheimer's patient? gosh. how could that love, that 70 years of marriage change just like that? i thought people get married, vow to be together for better or worse, until death does them apart?

anyhow, im really really really infected with the sadness. it's really heart-breaking to experience first-hand encounter on real life events such as these. not a fiction, on tv, on novels.

i dont think i want to be a psychiatrist.
